SUN ‘n FUN 2026 ✈️🔥☀️
The first part of my photo coverage from one of the biggest and most atmospheric aviation events in the world. Lakeland once again turned into a place where aviation owned the skies all day long — and well after sunset. The roar of jet engines, the smell of aviation fuel, and thousands of people looking up created an atmosphere unlike any other airshow.
The biggest highlights of this year’s edition were undoubtedly the USAF Thunderbirds flying the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the incredible F-22 Raptor Demo Team. Powerful vertical climbs, high-speed passes, and the unmistakable sound of afterburners made an unforgettable impression both in person and through the lens. The raw power of modern jets perfectly contrasted with the classic atmosphere created by historic warbirds and vintage aircraft spread across the airfield.
The show also featured legendary aircraft such as the B-25 Mitchell “Panchito,” the Trojan Thunder formation, the Jack Aces flying their iconic P-51 Mustangs, as well as breathtaking aerobatic performances by Michael Goulian, Kyle Fowler, and the TITAN Aerobatic Team. Every performance had its own unique character — from the brute force of military jets to incredibly precise low-level aerobatics.
The evening performances brought an entirely different atmosphere. As the sun disappeared below the horizon, the sky lit up with pyrotechnics, colorful lights, smoke, and fire effects. The night airshow created a cinematic and dramatic mood unlike anything seen during the daytime performances. For an aviation photographer, these are some of the most challenging — yet also the most rewarding — conditions to capture.
Florida’s beautiful light, golden sunsets, and the incredible energy of this event made every takeoff and every flyby feel special. Once again, SUN ‘n FUN proved why it remains one of the most important aviation events in the world.
This is only the first part of the coverage — part two is coming soon 📸✈️🔥
